MESSAGE ON CREATING AN EXCLUSIVE WEB SITE FOR PAST PRESIDENTS.

In an Environment laden with Electronic Communication and Digital Photography, it is the desire, of the Past Presidents of ICAI, to be more Transparent and visible, and make ICAI events, reach a wider section of the Audience. Many of the past presidents have strived very hard, during their tenure, to accomplish higher goals, and reach the long felt desires, of the profession, like making Cost Audit, a part of Enterprise Governance, Changing the name of the Institute to reflect the work content Etc. However, due to several constraints, these attempts have not fructified yet, to give the much needed fillip, to the Profession. The Journey has been long, but still continues, and towards this, the past presidents are lending their unstinted support to the profession. One such effort, is to open the Channel of Communication, and make the profession Vibrant and acceptable to the society.
It is worth while to appreciate, the past presidents of ICAI, have channelized their energies, to meet at least once in a year, on the eve of the National Cost Conventions, to discuss on issues facing the Profession. The first such meeting was held in Hyderabad, in the year 2007, followed by regular Annual meetings at Pune, Jaipur, Kolkata and Chennai, where issues relevant to the profession, were discussed. It is the desire, of many that the Maturity ,Wisdom, Rich Experiences, and wide contacts of the Past Presidents, should be pooled together, for the betterment of the profession, which in certain cases, has already established itself.
Apart from this, the Past Presidents Group is vocal, and exchange mails to lead the discussions, and acts as a sounding board to the Council of the Institute. The Views of the Past Presidents have great significance and value, coming as it does with maturity and without fear or favour. It is also pertinent that many of the Past Presidents, are Active to give valuable contributions to enhance the performance of the profession.
Towards this, it is the much awaited desire, to have a portal to share Knowledge on issues from time to time, and make the profession more involved, vibrant, transparent and accountable to the members at large. I am glad, the day has come to open a significant New Leaf in the history of the profession, and accomplish a mile stone. In an electronic age, visuals have greater impact by carrying the messages live, and reach a greater section of the members. This Portal is intended to meet this void and open up the communication channel.
The Portal is being launched on Akshaya Tritiya day, when all investments will turn into gold, and multiply fulfilling the desires of one and all. I would like to convey my sincere thanks to all the Past Presidents of ICAI, and in particular to CMA Dhananjay V. Joshi, to have supported this proposal, when it was mooted, and to make it a reality.
